March14th Build Session

Members in attendance: Jacob Bagwell, Ankit Javia, Alex Russamano

Subaru Aux Members in attendance: Ryan Peters, Nate Littner

-We again focused our energies on the Albemarle vehicle

-The build session began with us taking inventory on what was left for the auxiliary team to complete on the subaru.  The list developed included:  The relay/DC-DC box, testing and wiring the power steering pump, finish mounting the vacuum brake pump relays, to wire all of the systems to the relay board, protect and secure loose wires with conduit, to create and install high voltage bus bars, and then to begin testing/help other teams where needed.  We then proceeded to complete the wiring and testing of the power steering pump.  The pump was then reinstalled and hopefully won’t have to be removed again.  The brake pump relays were also finished being mounted.  The last thing that needs to occur with that system is wiring the signal wire to the relay  board.  The relay board and mounting system was worked on.

Action Items:  The power steering pump was re-installed, the vacuum brake pump relays were mounted and wired up correctly, and the relay board/mounting system is ninety percent complete.

Needed Items:  A 50-55amp breaker or fuse for the power steering pump, and an assortment of fuses.

Goals:  The next build session should have the relay board installed and the systems completely wired.

Feb 20th Work Session

Jeep Aux Members in Attendance:  Jacob Bagwell, Jacob Baldwin, Ankit Javia, Alex Russomanno

Subaru Aux Members in Attendance:  Ryan Peters

-Again we have been putting the majority of our energies into the Albemarle Subaru.  On the side of the Jeep however we have the new DC/DC ordered and are waiting on its arrival.  Once that part is in we have all of our main components.

-The build session began with us working on fixing the final two clips for the fluid heater and then we moved onto the wiring of the Power Steering pump.  Also while this was going on the Subaru Aux team still worked on the shelving unit for the DC/DC and the relay board.

-Action Items:  The final two clips for the fluid heater were wired.  The fluid heater now only needs to be wired to the relay board once it is installed.  Along with this, we developed a process with Seabring’s help to wire up the Power Steering pump without clips.  (the unit we have didn’t come with clips unfortunately).  We have the power clip wired up and sealed with silicone and attached a clip of our own to it for easy removal if necessary.

-Items needed:  NA

-Goals for next session:  Wire up the signal clips for the power steering and re-install the power steering pump,  Push to get the shelving unit completed and installed.  If we have enough man power to begin working on the Jeep.

Feb 13th Build Session

Jeep Aux Members in Attendance:  Jacob Bagwell, Jacob Baldwin, Ankit Javia, Alex Russomanno

Subaru Aux Members in Attendance:  Ryan Peters, Nate Littner

-We focused the majority of our efforts again on aiding the Subaru team

-The build session began with us dividing up tasks.  Alex and Jacob Baldwin focused on developing the high voltage bus bars and their lexan cases.  Jacob Bagwell and Ankit Javia  focused on running the hoses for the fluid heater and Ryan and Nate worked on finishing the shelving unit for the DC/DC converter and relay board.  Toward the end of the session we eventually removed the fluid heater from the Ranger to be used for the Jeep.

-Action Items:  The fluid heater hoses were installed.  The shelving unit for the DC/DC and Relays is approximately half way complete.  The bus bars were cut and the boxes for them were drawn out but still need to be cut.  The wiring clips for the fluid heater from the Ranger were used on the Subaru.  A new set of wiring clips were already ordered and will replace those taken for the jeep.

-Items Needed:  We should order more weather pack clips (weather proof automobile wiring clips)  These could be used for the power steering.

-Goals for Next Build Session:  Finish shelving unit and install relay board and DC/DC converter, and begin wiring the power steering pump for the Subaru.  If time permits we will begin designing mounts for the jeep aux components.

Feb 6th Work Session

Jeep Aux Members in attendance:  Jacob Bagwell, Jacob Baldwin, Ankit Javia, Alex Russomanno

Subaru Aux Members in attendance:  Nate Littner

-Again we worked entirely on the Subaru Aux.

-We began by troubleshooting the AC on/off switch and eventually determined it wasn’t working due to presumably a soda having been spilled into the dash by the previous owner.  We then began determining what we needed to run the hoses for the fluid heater.

Action Items:  Fixed the AC switch, re-installed it, and ran tests to make sure it was working,  Began running hoses for the fluid heater and realized we needed some reducers and angle joints.  Nate began fabricating a new two tier box for the DC/DC and the rely board.

Items Needed:  several feet of hose and a few angle joints, and several reducers.  Ankit picked the parts up.

Jan 30th Work Session

Jeep Aux Members in Attendance:  Jacob Bagwell, Jacob Baldwin, Ankit Javia

Subaru Aux Members in Attendance: Ryan Peters, Nate Littner

The Jeep Aux group has been working as members of the Subaru Aux group due to two reasons: 1: The majority of our parts have not arrived yet, 2: The Subaru must be completed within the next couple months

-During this work session we made a list of parts miscellaneous parts we were going to need to complete the wiring.  We also decided to pick up two of everything so we already had these parts when we begin working with the Jeep.  We also realized we are going to need to construct several bus terminals for the high voltage items.

Action Items:  We then began working on wiring the fluid heater.  Our main accomplishment was sending the signal wire through the dashboard to the air conditioner on/off switch.  However, the switch did not seem to work.  We took the switch out of the HVAC unit and left it to be examined at our next work session.

Needed Items:  None for the work session
